Washington Governor's Cup Walleye Tournament

In 1994 the first Washington Governor's Cup Walleye Tournament was held on Lake Roosevelt. The Governor's Cup is the oldest organized Walleye fishing event in the state of Washington.

This annual event sponsored by the Lake Roosevelt Walleye Club is

a two person team, two day event (limited to 125 teams).

Cash awards are presented to the top 15 places on the basis of aggregate weight for both days.

Teams may catch 6 fish per day.

Fishing is confined to a specific area in the Lake Roosevelt vicinity and designed to minimize potential impacts to the fisheries' resources.

The Govenor's trophy was commissioned in 1994 to Bozeman, Montana artist Harvey Rattey and features a cast bronze walleye mounted on a black walnut base. The Governor of all states are invited to participate or to send a representative team. Representative teams need not pay the entry fee, but will not be eligible for cash awards if they do not. The one-of-a-kind traveling Governor's Cup Trophy will be awarded to the Governor of the state placing highest amongst these representative teams and remain on display in the winning state until a designated time period prior to the next year's tournament at which time it will be returned to be placed on display in or around Kettle Falls.

Teams wishing to represent their state should contact their Governor for an appointment. If no team is appointed by a state's governor, the Washington Governor Cup Walleye Tournament Committee will select a team at random.
